Made possible by the gift of money (£2000) and artworks (33 paintings) from founders, John and Cuthbert Grundy, Grundy Art Gallery and the Grundy Art Gallery Collection launched on 26 October 1911.
Over the years, the Collection has grown to over 2000 items, and whilst many of these were purchased, the Grundy Collection, has also increased as a result of artworks being gifted and donated. To mark Grundy’s 115 birthday this autumn, Collection Spotlight: Gifted, presents some of these along with the story of how they came to be part of the Grundy Art Gallery Collection.
